Position Announcement

Texas A&M University Libraries offers a leadership opportunity to join the Libraries as the Director of Metadata and Cataloging. The successful candidate should be a self-starter who will: lead efforts to build a robust, transformative metadata strategy, coordinating with other units to enable seamless user discovery of the Libraries’ resources; balance these efforts with the unit’s commitment to the Program for Cooperative Cataloging; assist with the migration process from Voyager to an open source system and the integration of the Medical Sciences Library’s catalog; foster effective relationships with peers and stakeholders throughout the Libraries and university; help facilitate internal and external communications and resolve conflicts; cultivate an environment that promotes cooperation, creativity, innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability for results; and encourage and support effective problem solving and decision making.

Reporting to the Dean through the Associate Dean for Information Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible for leadership, assessment, and communication skills and the ability to lead change and work collaboratively with other units. The Director will be part of the leadership team of the Information Resources division and will have a prominent role in determining the strategic direction for the Libraries’ metadata program. This is a tenure-track academic appointment carrying full faculty status and responsibilities including research, publication, and service to meet both the Libraries’ and the University’s requirements for tenure and promotion.

  * Demonstrated ability to positively engage as a change leader through examples of past activities
  * Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other library units
  * Demonstrated commitment to customer service
