The Georgia Tech Library is seeking a Metadata Librarian to join our Technical Services team.  The Metadata Librarian will be responsible for providing original and copy cataloging for print and non-print materials in various formats and provide strategic leadership, consultation, training, and expertise in cataloging in a variety of metadata schemas for resources in all formats.

The position will be appointed as a member of the Non-tenure Track Academic Faculty and is required to go through the review and promotion process for librarians and archivists. Library faculty have an effort distribution of 80% excellence in assigned duties, 10% scholarship, and 10% professional service to the library profession or the institute. The Library faculty in this position must actively participate in professional and scholarly activities, including institute and professional committees, research, and publication. The Georgia Tech Library Faculty enjoy flexible work schedules, teleworking, professional development, and a healthy work-life balance. This is a full-time faculty appointment. Salary and rank are commensurate with credentials and experience. Minimum starting salary for a Librarian I is $66,500. This is not a remote position, but some teleworking hours is supported. Final rank will be determined based on combination of education and experience. Up to two (2) years credit for previous professional experience may be given at the time of employment, in which case such credit must be stated in the offer letter.

  *   Librarian I - Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program or ALA-recognized foreign equivalent.
  *   Librarian II - Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program or ALA-recognized foreign equivalent; Evidence of scholarship and/or evidence of service to the librarian/archivist profession; and 5 years of professional experience.
  *   Librarian III - Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program or ALA-recognized foreign equivalent; A strong record of scholarship and service demonstrating significant contributions to the librarian/archivist profession; and 10 years of professional experience.
  *   Librarian IV - Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program or ALA-recognized foreign equivalent; A strong record of scholarship and service demonstrating the highest standards of professional contributions to the librarian/archivist profession and are recognized widely by peers; and 15 years of professional experience.

Only candidates with the following experience will be considered for this appointment:

  *   Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, written, and oral communications skills
  *   Original and copy cataloging experience in an academic, public or special library setting utilizing current cataloging metadata standards and schema, MARC21, LCC, LCSH, RDA, FRBR, and emerging linked data standards using metadata management tools (e.g., RDA, MARCEdit, OCLC Connexion, Access, authority control, batch processing techniques).
  *   Experience with an ILS and a national bibliographic utility.
