Library Technician, Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities:
* Produce required metadata outputs for Federal Government information, documents or information systems, websites, or files using source data, bibliographic records, Government systems, Government instructions, or other information (the source data could be images, PDF, TXT or Excel files, or tangible publications)
* Perform searches within Government systems and other appropriate online resources to locate information, and perform assessments on that information and on tangible documents to locate information to produce required metadata outputs
* Review digital images to ensure compliance with Government specifications; record metadata, associated with image review results
* Perform assessments of tangible documents to locate information to produce required metadata outputs
* Validate content, in various formats, for completeness and edit or add associated metadata
* Verify entered data, combine data from various data sources or systems when information is incomplete, and remove information to eliminate duplication
* Identify Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
* Manage and perform multiple metadata entry or metadata associated activities at one time and maintain expected performance and quality standards
* Test activity and system changes by inputting new data and reviewing outputs
* Produce QC plans in consultation with the government; conduct quality control on the produced outputs of each activity
* Perform metadata associated activities with no more than a 5% failure rate
Requirements:
* U.S. citizenship mandatory
* Bachelor's degree in any discipline
* Minimum of one year of work experience working in data entry using various systems, tools, and schemas; producing accurate data entry (accurate keying, spelling, etc.)
* Minimum of one year of work experience identifying descriptive content metadata information; proven ability to accurately identify and enter metadata
* Some experience working with U.S. Federal Government documents
* Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Word and Excel, and with web-based collaborative platforms such as SharePoint
* Experience working with various image formats, including but not limited to TIFF, JPEG2000, PDF, etc.
* Knowledge and understanding of various metadata standards and schemas
* Ability to adhere to data entry and metadata object description schema standards and other metadata schema standards set forth by the government
* Strong experience performing quality control on metadata produced by others
* Ability to work and communicate effectively with paraprofessionals, library professionals, and agency personnel
* Ability to work independently and to exercise discretion, initiative, and judgment
* Must possess strong organizational, and interpersonal skills
