We're excited to announce that registration for the 2020 LD4 Conference will open on Wednesday, March 4th. Join us May 13-14 at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, USA to learn concrete ways that linked data benefits GLAM institutions, and discover pathways to participation in linked data. Whether you have already implemented linked data in your work or are just getting started, you will leave with a better understanding of what linked data is, how it can be used, and what you can do to get started or continue to incorporate linked data in your institutions or projects. By bringing together a broad range of perspectives, and centering diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethics in our discussions, we will create a community of practice for linked data in libraries.


We are delighted to have Karen Hwang as our conference kick-off speaker. Karen's practice as a metadata professional and archivist is rooted in concerns of discoverability and representation. She works to promote underrepresented histories through digital collections, and  has explored ways to implement linked open data to enhance and boost the discovery of cultural heritage resources. Other program highlights include, "Workshopping Queeries: Linked Data Vocabularies and Ethical Cataloging," "Where Linked Data Can Impact User Experience: Findings from a Study on Discovery Workflows," "'I don't think I'll ever understand linked data': How to Teach Linked Data to Our Colleagues," and "Linking bilingual bibliographic data: a Wikidata-based project of Chinese writers' archival collections."


A $100 registration fee will help to cover conference expenses and will include food and beverages during morning and afternoon breaks as well as a lunch buffet for both conference days, May 13th and 14th. There will not be an additional registration fee for pre-conference workshops on March 12th. Thanks to the generous support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, a limited number of stipends<https://sites.google.com/stanford.edu/ld42020/stipends> will be available to make participation possible for those who would not otherwise be able to attend.
