Rutgers University Libraries is seeking a dynamic and creative individual to join Central Technical Services (CTS) to provide strategic direction and leadership in the creation of non-MARC metadata. The full position posting is available at https://jobs.rutgers.edu/postings/69722

The successful candidate will join a team that is actively engaged in meeting evolving information organization, discovery, and access trends. In collaboration with CTS colleagues and other units within the Libraries, the incumbent will create, process, and manage metadata and associated files for RUcore, Rutgers’ institutional repository. RUcore includes scholarship deposits mandated by the University’s Open Access policy, special collections resources, and digital collections from Rutgers’ Equine Sciences Center, the Video Mosaic Collaboratory (a longitudinal study for mathematics instruction), and the New Jersey Digital Highway, a statewide cultural heritage collaboration.

CTS is located in the Technical Services Building (TSB) on Rutgers’ Busch Campus. Rutgers was one of the first institutions to locate technical services in its own facility, which is located in a lovely wooded area that includes paved walking and bicycle paths, access to the campus bus system, is within walking distance of both a full service recreation center that includes a gym, Olympic size pool, and fitness center, and a vibrant campus center that provides numerous services, include a wide range of dining options.

Rutgers University Libraries are part of  a leading national research university with global impact. The Libraries recently implemented Alma and Primo, launched a successful Open and Affordable Textbooks (OATs) program, and have an outstanding collection that includes New Jerseyana in Special Collections and University Archives and the Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers Newark.

Chartered in 1776, Rutgers is the eighth oldest higher education institution in the United States. The university has 69,000 students, and 22,500 faculty and staff, with major campuses in New Brunswick, Newark and Camden, including Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences  It is a member of the Association of American Universities, the Big Ten Conference, and the Big Ten Academic Alliance. Additionally, New York and Philadelphia are within easy reach by public transportation or car.

Lastly, New Jersey holds an important place in American history. In addition to being one of the original thirteen colonies, it was the first state to sign the Bill of Rights, third to ratify the Constitution, and played a key role in the American Revolution, including George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware and the Battle of Trenton. It is home to over 1,000 multinational firms and major facilities for most of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, and has one of the most diverse populations in the country.
