The Digital Public Library of America has released an update to their
Metadata Application Profile -  DPLA MAP, v5. The specification, along
with an updated Introduction to the DPLA MAP, can be found at
http://dp.la/info/developers/map.

Revisions to the MAP were primarily made to modify how DPLA stores
metadata for internal purposes. However, the two biggest changes affect
the ability to add IIIF resources to DPLA records and the recommendation
of a brief controlled vocabulary of format terms taken from the Art and
Architecture Thesaurus. These are to be used in a new field called
"subtype" and will eventually enable DPLA to enhance is search sorting
and faceting.

This update was developed by a working group made up of members of the
DPLA and digital library communities:

  * Gretchen Gueguen, DPLA (chair)
  * Ivey Glendon, University of Virginia (co-chair)
  * Valentine Charles, Europeana
  * Robin Dean, Michigan State University
  * Greta Bahneman, University of Minnesota
  * Juliet Hardesty, Indiana University
  * Nicole Lawrence, University of Georgia
  * Kristen Merryman, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  * Anna Neatrour, University of Utah
  * Hannah Stitzlein, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign

The draft also went through rigorous community review. DPLA would like
to thank all of the participants and reviewers for their input and
collaboration.

Best,
