 Metadata Librarian II

Northeastern University Libraries seeks a dynamic, energetic, knowledgeable and self-motivated librarian to join its dedicated, innovative, and service-oriented staff.

The Metadata Librarian II, as part of the Metadata Management Department, will provide original metadata for analog and digital resources in all subject areas using a wide array of metadata schema and content standards including RDA. The Metadata Librarian should be familiar with and have expertise in various metadata schema, controlled vocabularies, content standards, and encoding methods. The Metadata Librarian II will be responsible for managing and supervising metadata projects and will work closely with the new Digital Library Management program and emerging services for the campus. The Metadata Librarian II will manage, supervise, and train the Department's Metadata Assistants including setting daily and long-term priorities, managing workflow, training staff in new content standards, and reviewing and revising metadata created by the Metadata Assistants.
 Qualifications
 ALA accredited master's degree in Library or Information Science required; 3 to 5 years cataloging or metadata experience preferred; demonstrated knowledge of established and emerging national and international metadata standards, metadata schemas, and the latest trends and issues in libraries and information science. The successful candidate should have excellent planning, analytical, interpersonal, communication, supervisory, and project management skills as well as a strong service orientation, technical aptitude, and a demonstrated commitment to staff development and diversity in the workplace.
