[Metadatalibrarians] Geographic names in Dublin Core

Hello,

We are trying to figure out the best way to record geographic names in
Dublin Core in the coverage.spatial element. This metadata is being
stored in CONTENTdm, so while we can have a controlled vocabulary
element, we can't really link it to a full authority record. I am
curious to know how other people are handling this. Specifically:

What controlled vocabulary do you prefer to use? LCSH? TGN? What
prompted you to make that choice?
If you're using TGN, how are you recording in the metadata record?
Do you list the full hierarchy of the place name in your record? (e.g.,
United States--Illinois--Chicago--Near West Side)
Do you place an identifier in the spatial field?
Are you placing coordinates in the metadata record?

Thanks,

Kristin
