I think David Bigwood has done a masterful job of this in a blog, since 2002. Catalogablog is still active at http://catalogablog.blogspot.com/. You may want to reference that if you start a wiki.

As someone in a similar position to yours, I'd find such a wiki useful. 
I'm less sanguine about the chances for getting it fully stocked and 
kept up to date; but if you build it, ...
