Salary: +ACQ-18.147 to +ACQ-26.766 per hour (+ACQ-37,890 to +ACQ-55,887 per year) depending on qualifications. This position is in pay schedule and range 13-01. A six-month probationary period will be required.

Introduction

The Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Library-Archives holds a premier research collection on North American history, with library holdings of 3.9 million items and archives of over 100,000 cubic feet. It is a depository for state and federal government publications and administers the Wisconsin State Archives, the repository for state and local government records. Job Duties

The Electronic Records Archivist works under the day-to-day direction of the Library-Archives Collection Development Coordinator. This position serves as a member of the public records group and has overall responsibility for the appraisal, acquisition, accessioning, and management of electronic public records. This position supports the work of the group by guiding efforts to acquire, preserve, and make accessible electronic records and other information systems from Wisconsin state government and by providing direct assistance to state agency personnel in the area of managing electronic records and electronic access systems. The work of this position involves frequent contacts with outside agencies, institutions, and individuals and supports the functions of the Wisconsin Public Records Board.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


 +ACo-   Knowledge of archival and/or records management standards, methods, theory, and practice.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of electronic records concepts and processes involving transfer, retention, migration, preservation, and access.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of electronic records management products.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of developing trends and standards for government records and publications information architecture such as defined through the OAIS model.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of metadata standards and protocols, e.g. EAD, METS, MODS, PREMIS, Dublin Core, etc.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of XML schemas.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of commonly used database platforms, such as Access, Oracle, or SQL server.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of Visual Studio environments.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of programming languages and development, e.g., .PHP or .NET.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of Microsoft Server, Apache or Internet Information Systems web servers.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of Linux.
 +ACo-   Able to utilize Microsoft Office applications.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of archival analysis and appraisal techniques for public records.
 +ACo-   Knowledge of archival accessioning standards, cataloging rules, and related procedures.
 +ACo-   Ability to work effectively as a member of a functional team and oversee the work of student employees.
 +ACo-   Ability to analyze the contents of public records for legal, financial, and historical value and compare these to records management guidelines and statutory requirements.
 +ACo-   Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, with supervisors, colleagues, and state agency records staff.
 +ACo-   Ability to repeatedly lift and move records containers weighing up to 35 pounds.
 +ACo-   Ability to hold a Wisconsin drivers license.
 +ACo-   Ability to travel around the state as needed, including overnight stays outside of Madison.
