Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks an Assistant Taxonomist for immediate consideration for a part-time (approx. 25 hours per week) position of indefinite length, at a media firm in Glendale, CA. Our ideal candidate will have solid knowledge of and experience with thesaurus structure & development, controlled vocabularies, vocabulary enhancement, and knowledge of metadata and indexing. Experience with digital asset management is a plus. We are looking for a Librarian or library student who has completed coursework in this area.
RESPONSIBLITIES
* Edit and update collection of terms in an online taxonomy management system for consistent application in asset management programs for use in company's vocabulary system.
* Work with the lead Taxonomist and business stakeholders to assist in the development and application of company's taxonomies.
* Support and assist in the execution of taxonomy governance policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
* MLS/MLIS Degree or coursework completed toward degree;
* Experience with thesaurus construction and application;
* Familiarity with metadata standards and structures.
