[Metadatalibrarians] Workshops/conferences for Metadata Librarians next year?

Hi Michael,

Here are a few leads I'm aware of:

ALCTS regularly posts announcements of upcoming continuing education metadata offerings on their Web site: http://www.ala.org/ALCTSTemplate.cfm?Section=alcts&CFID=100565140&CFTOKEN=61592286

LC has now made freely-avialable all of the Catalogers Learning Workshop materials, which include a number of metadata-related ones: http://www.loc.gov/catworkshop/courses/   These workshops are also taught periodically by different hosts and trainers around the country.

Among other offerings, Jennifer Lang and I will be teaching Diane Hillmann's Metadata Standards and Applications workshop as an ALA Annual Preconference, July 9-10 in Chicago.

I also teach an 5-week online Metadata for Digital Collections workshop through my School of Information Studies.  The next offering will be Feb. 16 - Mar. 30, 2009.

I'm sure there are others workshops and sources of information out there besides the ones I've mentioned.

Subject: [Metadatalibrarians] Workshops/conferences for Metadata Librarians next year?

My library (University of Miami Libraries) is trying to fill the position of
Metadata Librarian right now:
http://www.library.miami.edu/about/employment/faculty_metadata.html

I am wondering if I can have some recommendations of workshop/conferences to
where I can send the prospective metadata librarian in coming year. This
position is newly created and we are willing to train him/her by sending to
several metadata related-trainings. I am open to any suggestion.

Thanks,
Michael
