*Metadata Strategist* 

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Campus Libraries seek a 
creative, enthusiastic, highly collaborative professional for the 
position of Metadata Strategist. Reporting to the Director of Technical 
Services, the Metadata Strategist provides leadership and guidance in 
the planning, development, creation, and implementation of metadata 
standards and best practices in the Libraries and serves as a resource 
to the University community in the area of metadata creation and best 
practices.**

Required qualifications include MLS or equivalent combination of 
advanced degree and relevant experience; demonstrated knowledge of and 
experience with a range of software applications supporting the 
development of digital libraries using current and evolving metadata 
standards and schema and associated technologies; working knowledge of 
cataloging rules, standards, and tools; a minimum of 3 years of 
professional experience working with metadata in a digital library 
environment in an academic or special library; and a demonstrated 
history of professional activities, including research and activity in 
professional organizations. This position requires a successful 
background check.
