I will give XML Hammer a try.

Dogged persistence has paid off! I just found an XML Batch Validator
tool developed at UC Berkeley:
http://sunsite3.berkeley.edu/ead/tools/schema_validate/

I tried it on the first batch that I knew had one problem MARCXML record
and it found it.

I think I will still give the Stylus Studio option a try also.
