Subject: [Metadatalibrarians] MODS and public art
Hello all,
I'm currently working with a collection of images of artwork around
campus. We have been using MODS for still images and it has worked well
for us up to this point, but I'm not sure what would be the best way to
encode the physical location of an artwork (i.e., "Science & Research
Plaza") in MODS. physicalLocation doesn't seem to be quite appropriate
for this usage, nor does a geographic heading. Needless to say, the
art-oriented standards handle this much better, but I'd rather not
incorporate an additional (and unfamiliar) standard into our database at
this point. Are there any best practices you have developed or
discovered to address this issue?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide,
Anne
