[metadataLibrarians] Choosing a digital library system

Hi all,
Please be sure to answer Winona's post back to the list, if possible. I
too am very interested to hear more about the selection of these tools,
especially in regard to digital library development moreso than simple
institutional repository needs. What was the decisionmaking process --
were they made from the administration or from some task force charged
to analyze systems? What rationale was given to favor one system over
another? What (if any) were the descriptive metadata
likes/dislikes/concerns? If you went with a home grown system (as
Princeton has), why, and were the other big players such as Fedora,
DSpace, Endeca, etc., considered?
I'll be sure to share why Princeton went with a home grown system later.
Thanks,
Clay
