[metadataLibrarians] Newbie question about metadatalibrarianskills and training

You are absolutely correct about this, and it's an area where savvy
metadata librarians with solid backgrounds in cataloging and
authority work will really come into their own.
As a matter of fact, I'm in the midst of writing a grant proposal to
build a back-end beast for a couple of digital libraries, based on
what we learned creating one for NSDL. This one will be generalized
and distributable, for those who might be interested ... ;-)
